Don Roberts

Don has over 40 years' experience as a financial services executive, investment banker and equity professional. He is recognized as a global thought leader in both the Forest Industry and emerging Renewable Energy Sectors.

• In 2012, he was chosen by Corporate Knights Magazine as the individual in the Financial Services sector who contributed the most to sustainable developement in Canada.

• In 2006, he was recognized by Forbes Magazine as one of the Best Brokerage Analysts in North America.

• Between 1997-2008, he was ranked seven times as the #1 Paper and Forest Products Analyst in Canada by institutional investors surveyed by Brendon Woods and/or Greenwich Associates.

Don also has over 50 years of experience in the resource sector, including advising CEOs and Ministers in Canada and internationally, on financing and strategic growth in the resource sectors.

 

Before starting Nawitka in July 2013, Mr. Roberts was a Vice-Chair of Wholesale Banking, and Managing Director in Investment Banking with CIBC World Markets Inc. In this position, he founded and led the Bank's cross-functional Renewable Energy & Clean Technology Team. He also provided senior coverage for companies in the global forest products industry.

Don has a B.Sc. Agricultural Economics (Honors), University of British Columbia; M.Sc. Forestry Economics, University of California at Berkeley; MBA (Honors) and Doctoral Studies, International Finance & Economics, University of Chicago, and ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors, Rotman School of Management (University of Toronto). Don has also served on the Board of Directors of eight corporate and non-profit organizations, and was a member of the Canadian Forest Sector Transformation Task Force in 2026.
